Neo Nagare is designed for speed and "flow," but even a pure stream of consciousness eventually needs a way to be retrieved. Hashtags provide a lightweight layer of organization that doesn't force you to think about hierarchy while you're in the middle of a thought. They are the bridge between a "mind dump" and a "knowledge base."
Writing hashtags
You can place tags anywhere in a note:
Deployed the #project-nagare #website #done
An interesting thought about habit formation #reading #ideas
#TIL that the LLSVPs might be related to the Moon's formation #space #science
Tag suggestions
When you start typing a #, the app will suggest tags you've used before. This helps you stay consistent without having to remember every tag you've created.
You can disable tag suggestions in the settings if you find them distracting.
Filtering by hashtag
You can filter your note stream with two methods:
- Tap a hashtag in any note
- Tap on the filter button in the app's top bar and select tags to filter by
The stream will update in real time to show only notes that include the selected tags. You can combine up to three tags at once to narrow things down further.
Tips for tagging
Keep your tags short and reusable. The goal is not to create an exhaustive taxonomy — a handful of tags you actually use regularly will serve you better than dozens of precise ones you quickly forget.
Some people find it helpful to use tags for:
- Context:
#work,#personal,#family,#grocery - Type:
#idea,#task,#quote,#observation - Project:
#project-name
There's no required system. Start with whatever feels natural and adjust over time.
