A common frustration with capturing thoughts is not knowing whether you've already captured something similar. The cautious path is to search before writing — but opening a search screen interrupts your train of thought. The lazy path is to just write it again, which leads to duplicates.
Live Search is designed to make that tradeoff unnecessary.
How it works
When Live Search is enabled, the app automatically shows related notes from your stream as you type in the input field. You can glance at the suggestions without stopping what you're doing.
If you spot a related note, you can tap it to view the full note or add a follow-up to it. If nothing matches, simply continue typing and submit what you've written as a new note.
Enabling Live Search
Live Search is optional and disabled by default. To turn it on, there are two ways:
App settings
- Open the app settings
- Find Live Search
- Toggle it on
Quick toggle
In the note input area, there's a small search icon with a switch. Tapping on it will toggle Live Search on or off without needing to open the settings.
You can disable it again at any time if you find the suggestions distracting.
A note on performance
Live Search runs entirely on-device using a local search index. Your notes are not sent anywhere to power this feature.
